when is best to feed a veiled cham?
morning after 1-2 hours after he wakes up -feed for all day or 2 there, other 2 after 1 hour etc?
Afternoon ?

I usually feed all my chams around 11am. About 3 hours after the lights come on. I like to give them plenty of time to warm up after a good nights rest and plenty of time to digest the food before the lights go out.

Im with Tom I wait about 1 1/2 hrs after lights on to feed. I cant be home all day or I'd feed a little later. But waiting til they warm up a bit is def a good idea. And you want them to have at least 3 hrs to digest the food theyve eatten before lights out.

My lights turn on at 8am. I leave for work at 9am. So i usually feed rightt b4 i leave . So they are up for an hours or so basking before i feed.. Then they have the rest of the day to bask and digest.

I agree with you guys but I have often wondered if a chameleon could not find any food during the day but right before it was getting dark he found something to eat, I bet you he would eat it. Meaning I am sure they eat at all times in the wild.

I have at some point or another fed feeders late in the evening time, havent had a problem. I just try to avoid it if possible

I agree I have done the same but I don't think you want to feed at night on a regular basis. So I think we all agree, day is best and early enough for our chameleons to bask and digest their food!

thanks for your responses , ill feed him after 1-3hours of basking - since i got him i feed him by hand , but ill try to let some cricks in the cage and see what will happen

well for me i dont have an option i leave for work at 6:30 am and am gone all day so i have to put the feeders in the cup in cage long before lights come on hes just chooses to eat them whenever he wants so far ive had no trouble
