When I'm breeding my female with someone else's male how many hatch lings should the owner of the male get out of the clutch

Hmmm not an expert on pimping out my chams. Wait he should pay you because he has the male. (the female won't enjoy it.). .... No in all seriousness, I have studed out male chams for free, or for 1, or 2 chams it really doesn't take much from the male. Just make sure you know the other cham, you don't want yours bringing home any parasites.

I studded out my male for 100$ plus a promise to get a male hatchling. I used the money towards the purchase of another female for myself. Its a good deal on the female owners part because you get the chance to hatch some eggs without having to buy a male, setup or food for it. I know friends that breed ball pythons and they will split the clutchs. balls only lay a handful of eggs though.

That's up to you, I think the normal is to get one or two males but people also split the eggs 50-50% so they each raise half a batch. So it comes down to what kind of deal you are both interested in making. You should get "more" out of it since your end of the ordeal is much longer and much more involved than theirs.

And yes, make sure you check out their animal and their husbandry, you wouldn't want your girl catching something or visa versa.

I think overall this is a bad idea. No matter how well you think you know this other person you are getting the male from, there is no way you can be sure of their husbandry and care of the chameleon they will be studding with. This chameleon could be sick or extremely aggressive and hurt your female. My advice to you would be to save up a bit of cash and buy your own male, quarantine him for an appropriate amount of time, and rest assured knowing exactly what you are breeding to your female. Just my two cents...

Rich.

Well, some people just pay the owner of the male, some give eggs, and some give hatchlings. It depends on what kind of terms you two decide on. With snakes, people often make contracts, but thats usually when someone sends an adult female to be bred or agrees on hatchlings. Personally, I would offer eggs or money but only if the breeding takes and no damage is done to the female.

Make sure both animals are seen by a vet and checked for parasites. Breeding can transfer parasites between the animals and that is a pain in the butt.

Wow, lots of people here a lot picker that I am.
My rules:
male comes to me
I house him separately until I feel it is time
If there are problems on either side we call it off - no blame
If and when she lays eggs the agreement is male's owner will get 1/2 the eggs or 3 neonates, which ever the two of you agree on.

But the bottom line it, you do what you feel comfortable with.
