When do Veilds start showing colors?

I see all these fantastic shots of veilds that are glowing yellow. My little guy shows some yellow and lime green but usually it's pretty light in color. Skittles is 5 months old. At what age do they really start to show their colors off? Does it generally happen during a certain season when the male feels like breeding or do they display lots of colors year round?

They don't really "show off" their colors. They tend to change with their mood. Not really a seasonal thing either. If they are hunting they might change, if they are scared or stressed they most definitely change. Show a female to a male and he will definitely change, as will she. Show a male another male and as the ad for Skittles says "taste the rainbow!"

Oh by the way, my Veiled caught a glimpse of himself at about 6.5 months and he showed the color range of an adult, but his colors got deeper over the next few months.

One thing my guy does consistantly is he gets these black stipes on his hood when he is sleeping along with his eye sockets. He looks kind of gothic when he sleeps. He also goes to sleep like clock work at 7:30 every night for the past several weeks.

You should see stripes with a light yellow hint around 4-5 months.
Full coloration can take a year or longer.
Just be patient, with each shed more and more color should show up.
Remember, veileds aren't known for their fantastic coloration basking.
You need to excite the males for them to show off.

I don't think I'm properly qualified to excite my chameleon in that way. :p

Funny after starting this thread the very next night he had a whole new Pajama Outfit while sleeping. His usual slightly lime markings where bright yellow. I haven't seen them go yellow again yet tho.
