What's he doing?

Today I was looking at my Cham and he did something weird, he opened his mouth 3 times rapid fire(couldn't have stayed open for more than 1 sec each time)

I've heard this is a symptom of a RI? but he shows no other signs he eats like I haven't feed him for weeks, he constantly is patrolling His cage, and we were face to face with each other when he did this and I could see all the way down his mouth, and I'd go as far as saying I saw NO mucus/salvia not excessive amounts :confused:confused:

So an ideas? Should I go see a vet just to be sure?

I wouldn't go to a vet over one incident like this........but perhaps he was trying to tell you something, lol
Is he normally friendly or feisty? What species?

Depending on his scenario another possible answer would be he is trying to begin a shed, sometimes they open there mouths really wide to stretch out the skin so it cracks and begins shedding

Veiled and He's feisty a majority of the time..he had his days where he.....tolerates me.

I'd guess he was just saying 'What you looking at?' then......but he was too lazy and comfortable to add a hiss.......my male hasn't done this but sometimes when I go to pick up my female she will gape for a second, and maybe just gasp a bit.

Update

I saw him do it again(maybe not three times but once ya) and afterwords it looked like he stretched his neck upwards.
Both times he did it at about 7:30, 30 minutes before lights out
So maybe it was a yawn and stretch before bed?
Code:
:p

Could have been. they do yawn sometimes.

Also, what are his cage temps at?

About 85 at his basking point, I dont think it's that I've seen him gaping because heat when I first got him, and he seemed to keep it open for more than a second

That's my thinking, doesn't sound like overheating......
