Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - Female Sternfeldi, approx 1.5 years old. Been in my care since March.
Handling - As often as she wants to be handled. She's off and on with it, so on average maybe once or twice every few weeks?
Feeding - I free range crickets in their enclosure. They are fed every morning with 3/8". I've tried many different feeders and they won't touch anything but crickets. Crickets are gutloaded with Bug Burger, my own homemade dry gutload from Sandrachameleons blog, and various fruits and veggies.
Supplements - Flukers phosphorous free calcium W/OUT D3 2 or 3 times a week, and Repashy Calcium plus usually once a week.
Watering - I have just switched to a Mistking, but previously, I misted 2 or 3 times a day for 1-2 minutes at a time. I see her drink.
Fecal Description - Brown feces with white urates. Never been tested for parasites.
History - Oh where to start...She had an RI back in April, then gave birth to 8 babies, then dropped 3 stillborns a month later, which resulted in a cloacial prolapse which ended up righting itself out.

Cage Info:

Cage Type - 18x18x36 Reptibreeze. Living with another adult female Sternfeldi. Get along great together.
Lighting - I just switched to a linear Reptisun 5.0 T5, but previously was using a Reptisun 5.0 compact bulb in a deep dome. Lights come on at 7:30am and shut off at 8:30pm.
Temperature - Basking was around 85F, ambient was around 73F. Measured with a temp gun. Night temps were around 73F (ambient house temp)
Humidity -I'm not 100% sure on humidity (need to get a new hygro), but cage is heavily planted with live plants, misted multiple times daily, and also had a Reptifogger going off and on throughout the day. 3 sides of the enclosure is tarped off with a clear heavy duty drop sheet.
Plants - Shefflera, Ming Aralia x 2 and 1 pothos. Re-did their cage yesterday and now is heavily planted with 3 very large schefflera at varying heights.
Placement - Was in the corner of our kitchen, fairly close to a vent. Not a super high traffic area as just my husband and I live here. It was about 6' off the floor from the top of the cage. Now the cage is in the basement and sitting about 8' off the floor from the top of the cage. Very low traffic area.
Location - Lindsay, Ontario, Canada

Current Problem - Zuri is very skinny and wrinkly. I don't understand why because I see her eat and drink daily (her appetite has decreased, but I still see her eat more than Asha and Asha is a gravid whale again) and her urates are white. It seems as though she's never bounced back after having that RI bout back in April. She's also very rickety when she walks, but still has a very strong grip and moves very quickly when she wants to. The photo posted was taken this morning, and this is how she usually rests during the day. I don't know how it could be MDB because she gets the proper supplements and is always under her UVB light. I just don't understand...:confused::confused:

Just for reference, here is Asha as of this morning. These two share an enclosure and she is wonderfully healthy.

That's exactly like my girl looked since the baytril treatment until I got the caloric intake and appetite stimulant. Isn't it weird that neither of ours bounced back after the RI's?

Has she ever been tested for parasites both blood borne and fecal? Both ladies are showing some gular edema. Its probably just the angle of the photo but are her wrists swollen?

Carl

She is swollen and definitely has gular edema. I've noticed that asha has mild edema as well. It comes and goes.

And yes, I've noticed some swelling in her wrists as well.

I would start with a fecal exam and have some blood drawn. Could be something as simple as a round of panacure . The blood work would help show if there was any organ damage done from the baytril.

Carl

They really are delicate critters. Some species more than others. Being so tiny, there just is no wiggle room. Don't think too hard on it, as the stress will do you no good. Sorry.

Thanks guys, I just put her to rest in my garden. I've still got three healthy hearty little guys who need my love. I woke up to Valkyrie shedding she looks so cute with the skin all over!!

So I think I found the source of the problem. I just went down to water her and she gaped after her drink and has bubbly mucous in the sides of her mouth...RI!

I really think the vet I originally saw didn't know what he was doing and prescribed her too low a dose of Baytril. I think she's been fighting this RI ever since and just wasn't showing enough symptoms for me to notice! She's got a vet appointment tomorrow afternoon at 4:40 with the new vet that looked at her for her prolapse. Has anyone used any other medication/ method other than Baytril to treat an RI?

All 6 of my adults normally have some mucous in the corners of their mouths.

To be sure have your vet do a swab of the mucous and send it off. Baytril can be really tough on the kidneys and sternfeldi are not big drinkers so its harder to keep the kidneys flushed.

Yeah she usually does as well, but this is the first time I actually saw bubbles in the corners. I know the baytril was hard on her last time that's why I was asking if anyone has used anything else for RI's. I will request a swab tomorrow at the vets

So Zuri is now on Fortaz injections every three days for the next 4-6 weeks. The vet said she was blowing bubbles so he put her on that since the baytril did nothing last time. She's very skinny and a bit dehydrated (although she pooped at the vets and her urate was perfectly white!) so he said she may pass...that it's touch and go right now. Hopefully my poor girl can pull through!!

He also took her poop and is sending it to the lab for testing, we're trying to exhaust all options right now to figure out whats up with her. Another thing he mentioned was that she could still have another baby in her that she can't/ hasn't passed, but the only way to tell is through xrays. He wants to do one thing at a time right now do to her state.

Oh no! I'll pray she makes it! I know how you must feel right now. I'm hopeing she'll pull through for you!

She actually seems to be better this morning than yesterday. I saw her grab a cricket, which is the first time I've seen her eat in days besides that one butterworm. I'm going to do everything I can to try and get her back to health again!
