What would you pair him with? (Crested gecko homies)

Alright, since no one is helping me out with ideas on the Crested Gecko forum I though i'd post here and see what I get.

I will be mateing this boy next season. But I am not sure what kind of girl I want for him. I'm not looking for any specific outcome in the offspring, although pinners would be nice or some cresties with high side patterns. I just want a girl that I will love not only as a pet but as a nice dame. Any ideas on colors or morphs for the girl? Again, I just want your opinion on what you would put him with. I will not be buying anything till I know what I want. Thanks guys :)

I am happy to be able to answer your question. I have the perfect thing to pair him with ---- a cage at my house. What do you think? See that solves the problem. And it would make me very happy and he is completely beautiful.

Hahaha yeah right! :) He is like my precious little boy, the one I adore the most out of my 3 geckos. Can you believe he's a petco find!?

Petco???? You have got to be kidding. i have tried to buy a regular lepoard gecko here at the petco in Great Falls. All they have are about 2" (total length) babies that are so skinny there is no way I can give one to an 8 year old.:(:(

Your guy is just drop dead gorgeous. I don't have a crestie but am getting closer and closer. if you do mate him, keep me in mind.

It's been a couple years since I had cresties, but what about a red harlequin? It looks like he fires up with a bit of red in the first photo, a nice reddish lady would be nice.

Yup petco :) Crazy huh? I got both my cresties at petco and I couldn't be happier. Poor babies were really stressed though cus they were both shareing their tanks with like 5 other cresties. The cresties are just as addicting as chams :)

I just bought my leopard gecko at a show, and she is really neat. I was looking at the leos at the Petcos and Petsmarts here and they were in ok shape (The petcos and petsmarts bye me have really knowledgeable people on their reptile sections, some of them have refered me to other stores rather than buying herps there) That's really the only reason I didnt buy a leo at a petco, also cus I didn't want a normal one

He will definitly be bred, Ill hit you up when I get some babies cookin :)

Thank ya! She doesnt have the crests that i'd like and is a virgin. So itd take me about a year or 2 to start getting fertile eggs. Those are the only downsides i have with jer

I also keep cresties and hope to breed mine next year too. As far as I am aware, you can't really pair them up with any reliability of what 'morph' of babies you will get! It seems that you just get whatever hatches! I have a red harley partial pin and his 'girlfriend' is a yellow/orange tiger, and I have absolutely no idea what will come out of the eggs, but I do know that whatever hatches they will be the cutest things ever! You can't rely on breeding a red with a red and get read babies, you may end up with pinners, dals or anything else! I saw some very newly hatched crestie babies yesterday and their whole body was about the length of my Splat's head! So cute!:D

I know! That's the only thing I dont like haha. Their genetics are so unreliable. I'm thinking of getting him a nice white female if I can find one cheap at the upcoming show or on craigslist.

I am not sure they are that unreliable (genetics). Its true, you never know what to expect but they do more often follow the parents to a degree. If you want full pinners you better put two fulls together. It would cost a lot but I would put a tri or halloween 100% pinners with that one. You would get some unreal kids. :D Or if you are more of a Harley girl...get an unreal tri or halloween high side pattern extreme harley.

Yeah, I think i'm going to find a nice tri-color harley with a nice sized head or a nice pinner. Hopefully one of those. And hopefully i'll find one at the phoenix show fairly cheap. But if I don't Ill probabley just go with my girl now and see what pops out! Are you going to the phoenix show?

I plan on it. Never know what comes up but I have every intention on going.

And that sounds like a good plan. I have a red female phantom pinner that I am going to be mating with a tri full pin with almost solid cream back...we will see what pops from that too :D

have you been to that show before? i heard it was better than the tuscon show...hopefully. sounds like you've got some nice geckos!

I just talked to my dad about starting a lizard business this coming season. Hopefully he will be down for it. I would much rather be doing something like breeding and takeing care of animals than getting a job at mcdonalds.
