What would you have done?

So I have wanted a T. Deremensis for a while and i saw a male and female at the expo for $190 for both. Very good deal, but since they werent from a breeder I didnt get them. What would you have done?

I was dying btw cuz the female was so big and pretty.

I most likely would have bought them. I am a total sucker when I want something. And healthy is all I need.

what was the company name? My work had a pair for a LONG time, female was awesome hand feeder, finally sold to a local breeder, whom I plan to annoy in about 10-12 months

Ok well i am not puting them down but it was LLL. This is only MY choice because i like buying chams from breeders, even if they are WC. With companies like LLL or Reptile Depot and places that dont breed their chams i just tend to stay away, not because they are unhealthy, just because i am weird like that.

I understand what you mean, but here in S.A our "local breeder" sells inbred panthers.
So if I see a panther which isnt ambanja cross (which is what he has) in any store in good condition I will buy it.

I would of bought them. Many brokers have great names for themselves. Some breeders don't even sell to the public. Just because they didn't breed them doesn't mean they don't know how or have the knowledge. They may also provide great customer service. One must think about many things before making a purchase. I'd call them up and see if they still have them.

We do still have some in stock at the Oceanside store. I do totally understand wanting direct from a breeder, or questioning the source. But sometimes, with stuff like Deremensis, Melleri and other commonly imported, but not commonly bred chameleons, it can be tough to find, and you have limited options if this is what you are after. You gotta go with your gut, and picking up a Deremensis is always a risk regardless of where it comes from, but we have a pretty good supplier, and they seem to come up a bit cleaner to us than in years past (they can come up pretty beat up, horns tweaked, etc), which is why we have them again. Deremensis are absolutely wild caught, and absolutely one of the tougher wild caught chameleons. If you have been in our stores, then you know the chameleons are all either in screen cages up front with the proper zoo med lighting, etc, or in back of our store in reptariums, outside in the san diego sun. Just an FYI - chameleons are something we take great pride in, as they are tough. We have our suppliers, and our care dialed in pretty well. Our sources for our CB stuff like our veileds and our panthers are from some of the biggest name breeders in the country. They just happen to be cheaper from us Somethin to keep in mind, especially with Panthers..........

Just to add a word or 2, I have purchased chams from LLL for several years. I class LLL hands above the "normal" pet store. They have a dedicated staff who know their business. I looked at those same chams on Wed at LLL didn't buy them as I am out of space. Buy them, you won't be sorry.
