Hello
Please can some
One advise what type or brand of sand should
Be used in the container so that the Cham does not hold on to her eggs. This is not for breeding purposes just so she does not hold on to them. I want to be prepared
I use a mixture of eco earth and play sand as it is lighter for them to dig through than damp sand alone. It needs to be moist enough to hold a tunnel, so it doesn't collapse on her whilst she is digging/laying.
I also use a mix, but just sand will work. I think a bit of earthy stuff in there makes it a bit more comfortable for them, just a bit more natural........
I use just sand that you buy at the WalMart, Home Depot or Lowes. If they dig in anything black, like dirt it gets on them and will not come off until the next shed. All my girls have done great with the washed play sand. I'm attaching my laying bin blog for you below. Jann https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/jannb/345-egg-laying-laying-bin.html
I use the sand produced by Kings that comes in a white bag with red, blue and yellow sand toys on the front of it. I've used it for years and even if the chameleons have ingested some of it they have never been impacted from it... http://www.homedepot.ca/product/king-play-sand-20kg/902209
