What to use to cover basking bulb

Hello,

I am adding some metal halide bulbs to my free ranges and would like to add a cover of some sort to the end to help prevent accidents either from them trying to shoot their tongue at it if a bug gets on it or any other possible mishap. I remember seeing a thread where someone posted a picture of their basking bulbs with some type of wire cover over them, but I cant find it. Does anyone have any pictures of what they have done, or any suggestions?

Thanks

What about a topiary sphere? You could probably mount the light fixture inside the sphere with a few zip ties. Plus it opens for easy to access the bulb, and they come in large sizes, so creating a safe distance from the fixture should be easy. They are a little pricey, but they would look nice.
