well i noticed a couple of days ago that my male veiled is eating the substrate on purpose for some odd reason. any ideas or solutions on why hes doing that?

What substrate is it? Maybe he is seeing little insects down there? I would remove it - normally chams don't need substrate anyways - it's more bother than it's worth. Plus if he eats too much it might block up his insides and cause an impaction, which will land you with a hefty vets bill at least, and in the worst case it could kill your chameleon.
