Was just wondering what service everyone uses to ship chams.

I was gonna use Fed-Ex, Overnight shipping is $60 there.

Does anyone know of a Cheaper shipping service? Got a bunch a babies to ship out

I've always shipped with Ship Your Reptiles and not only do you get a discount they provide excellent customer support.

What do they do as far as shipping to cold weather areas like in the NE region of the US...it'll be cold now thru March/April.

is there a local place i can buy the shipping heat packs from??

You can order the heat packs from Amazon. I think they're the cheapest.

I used Reptile Express to ship a baby right before Christmas. They were just as good a SYR, but cheaper. They also use FedEx as their carrier. http://reptileexpress.com/ Their customer service rep was wonderful.

I live in the northeast also, and just received a baby last week. The lowest minimum, I believe is a daytime temp of 40 degrees. You would, of course, also have to use a heat pack.

If you have a lot of babies, let Rep express know and I think they might give you a deal. Sort of like a volume discount.

In my last 2 experiences shipping reptiles, both as receiver and sender, I've spoken to the FedEx workers at our local hub. They assure me that whenever live animals are being handled, they always keep them inside. They understand they need extra care.

***BIG NOTE: If you're shipping, I would make sure you ship directly to a hub and have it "held for pick up". That way, it won't go (yet again) out into the cold, onto a truck, and to the person's house.

Also, if you use a reptile shipping service, they give you large, obvious signs to post on the outside of the box.

I wouldn't trust USPS, but FedEx does a good job.

This. In Hot or cold weather, it really is the best thing to do by having the package shipped to the hub for pick up. Anybody hear of a porch pirate? No? For the last few years there have been huge increases in packages being stolen with minutes of being dropped off on a porch. Now yes most of us are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new critter and open the front door before the Fedex truck even comes to a stop but for those rare instances where you are in the shower... just ship it to the hub.

LOL! Bob, excellent point. I'm laughing because the day my first cham arrived, my youngest child (a critter fan like me) nearly knocked the poor delivery woman off the porch, because she was so excited.:ROFLMAO: The woman actually looked startled.

Where I live, the porch robberies are pretty prevalent. I agree the hub is best.
Honestly, I'm not sure I could ever wait again for the truck to arrive, knowing that critter already arrived in my town!
