about 2 years ago i picked up a lone WC female, and kept her for a year, got her on frozen thawed rodents and decided i really wanted to breed emeralds. Back in february of 2013 i noticed she started an ovulation cycle so i decided to pick up a captive bred male and put them together.

as of 11/12/13 i got 7 gorgeous baby emeralds, 1 still born and one passed away from a prolapsed organ shortly after birth (something had developed outside of the umbilical opening)

They are so beautiful - great job! My husband hates snakes, but says this is the ONLY type he'd have for the great display quality they have. :D

They are so pretty! I really like how you used the closet rod cups to hold their perches, and the pvc jungle gym. Very smart!

Congrats Sang! I'm not a snake person but your look very pretty. I really like the green. Will the babies turn green when older?

I agree those are the rolex of the snake world. They are completely beautiful. I am not a snake person, but those are the snakes I always go look at when I hit a reptile show.

I am really happy to see you back with us, I have missed you.

Yes, jan, just like green tree pythons, the babies go through otonogenesis(sp) and from what i read these animals are fairly hard to reproduce in captivity, i have been told my numerous locals that have kept/try to keep them that i am only 1 of 3 successful breeders in the state of Arizona.

I've also been keeping green tree pythons, dumeril boas and hognose, fat tail geckos and a few choice leopard gecko. i am very tempted to get a mellers chameleon again as i do miss them. but i need get my loan for a house in order.

I love those - if I have to go the BGSU labs, I always make it a point to stop and drool , errr - look at them - just such a stunning snake
Congrats on breeding them :D
