What is RI caused by?

If my veiled is in 60 percent humidity daily, in a reptibreeze cage, will he get RI?

Some will say that's too high, I disagree personally. I feel RI is mostly linked to poor air exchange and stress. It only makes sense that would be the case IMO. Also veileds have shown to do well in several climates. Regardless of what people say about wild chams in florida and how healthy they are, if humidity was the problem, then they'd all be getting RI's pretty fast... In a reptibreeze you should have plenty of air exchange. If you can get it a tad lower that'd be cool, but I wouldn't worry about it too much given that your other husbandry is on point.

Is he at at constant 60%? My chameleons humidity drop down between mistings and do not stay at one constant humidity level. Veileds can drop as low as 30 or 40 and be ok as long as it comes back up. 60% for a high should be ok. I have not had any issues with RI.

Yeah he is pretty much going to be at a constant 60 % for a month and a half. It’ll probably be lower once we move though, because he won’t be at the bottom floor.

I happen to be a Veiled owner that does lower my daytime humidity with a dehumidifier for the room. I will get a natural level of 60-70% without mistings. I can get mine down to about 45% and only run the dehumidifier from 7:30am-3pm to pull the level down while the cage is heating up and has the heat bulb on. By the time I kick it off the humidity does a very gradual raise until the T5's kick off and then I raise it up to about 92% with a fogger at night from 12am-4 or 5am when the room is at its coolest of 65-67degrees. I go through this cycle every day lowering it and raising it at night when its cool.

My boy Beman does not do well in higher humidity he will gape when temps are perfect but the humidity is too high.

I have found that this is very effective for my boy. My new baby has been in the same environment and has done extremely well.

And because it rains a lot, and no real sun gets down to my room, (where he is) it stays damp and higher than ideal humidity
