What is he doing?

I posted a thread recently about weird yawning going on with Toad. I still am concerned if it is something I should be worried about. He just got done with a shed so it can’t be him starting one again. He doesn’t have stringy saliva so it shouldn’t be a respiratory infection right? My husbandry seems fine, I have perfect temp/ humidity. Here’s a series of pictures of it. Idk how to link a video. When I caught him doing this, I was no where near his cage when this happened, so it can’t be stress.

He would shake a little while doing this. It’s like a yawn and then he would keep his mouth open like in the 2nd picture for around 20 seconds and then close it. Is he healthy?

Does he keep his throat puffed out a lot or adjust/flex his gular area at times when he's doing it? Does he shake back and forth sideways?
What have you been feeding him?

are you sure it's not too hot gaping can be a sign of heat exhaustion. even if your temps are perfect try just lowering them a bit to see if that helps.

When he’s basking he’s puffed up sometimes, but I read that was to get more surface area to warm up faster. When he does the yawning thing he adjusts and swallows afterwards. He doesn’t shake all the time. Only at the point his mouth is as wide as it can open then he shakes for a little as do humans when they do that. I feed him 10 carrot/ mustard greens gutloaded crickets a day, and later in the day a few super or hornworms depending on what he wants.
They’re supplemented with calcium 6 days every week, and then multivitamin or calcium w/ D3 on the 7th day depending on the week.

His basking temp is usually 80-84 which is perfect for juveniles so I hope he isn’t too hot! I’ll try doing that to see if he stops.

I was asking the questions to see if maybe he had something stuck in the area where the tongue is stored or maybe in his throat. Not sure from your description if it's a possibility or not. Sorry.

Do you mean just opening his mouth really wide, and then closing it again? Not shaking or anything?

Does no one see the hornworm right next to him? And I'm telling you, it's a territorial display. Every juevenile cham I've ever had has done what you described as they got older. They'll do it with no one there. Stop worrying :)

I was waiting for an answer lol. Not worrying. My boy does it almost every morning. No shaking or anything just opening his mouth super wide, and then closing it again.

Wait a minute...do you mean I was right when I joked that he’s showing his feeders that he’s king of the cage? ?
