I thought regular white bulbs can be bad on their eyes sometimes? I've been buying the Daylight Blue 60 watts for a while now as my heat bulbs.... WAS going to use regular house bulbs because they are cheaper, but I've read a few places that white standalone bulbs can be bad for their eyes and that's why they make the Daylight Blue bulbs.... Lots and lots of people also recommend a tube UVB bulb instead of a single standalone UVB bulb because again, the standalone white light can be bad for their eyes.

So apparently there are mixed feelings on the topic..... ChamDE86 carol5208 Crashbandit05 ...... how long have ya'll used regular house bulbs and have you ever experienced eye problems with any chameleons from using them?

I would suggest the basking spot on the right ive used both put prefer the basking spot cause the daylight bulb gets way to hot

I don't have my cham yet but I have already purchased the screen cage and linear uvb with LEDs for plant growth. They recommend the linear tubes because the uvb light is spread out more so the cham doesn't have to sit in one exact spot to receive the uvb rays. I have read of problems with the coil uvb lights in the past, but from what I've read recently, the issue seems to have been resolved. But why chance it? You should provide the best possible husbandry to try and emulate their nature environment. I have already spent close to $300 on cage, lights, vines, and temp/humidity guage/ digital temp gun alone. Still need the cham ($300) misting system ($100) live plants ($50+) dripper ($10) containers for the feeders, supplements, etc. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things too.
