What do you think?

My Female Nosy Faly was bred 4/21 and 4/22. I noticed attached to her urate yesterday were 2 eggs that looked infertile, a kind of tie dye look with white and yellow. She hasn't dug any holes, but last time she was bred she dug 1 hole with ease and laid her clutch. Could there be something wrong? Or do you think she is just making a bit too many eggs and a couple came out a bit early?

I was hoping to hear something about this as well. It has not happened to me as you describe so i cant really offer any explanation. Judging by the replies it sounds like a fairly unique occurance.

Yeah, only reason why it's puzzling to me is because she had no problems at all the first time and dug a hole like nothing lol. Well I will be checking on her soon and report back, i expect to see her digging at best, worst case scenario the eggs all lying on top of the soil.

I had the opposite problem for the first clutch. She dropped 21 eggs on the floor of the cage over the course of a week. I still have 9 from those that are still getting bigger (since dec 20) But since I never saw the tie dye look or when she dropped them, it does not seem at all the same. These were all fertile and white but some caved in before I could get to them.

I got 4 more tye dye eggs! ugh! I palpitated her and felt a good amount of eggs, no holes at all though!

I have a few questions.

How often are you checking on her? Is her cage in an area where she can see
other chams? Even if not, I suggest that you put a sheet on the front of her cage. This was she has her privacy.

Also- how damp is the laying bin substrate? Is it damp enough that is will hold the structure she has built? Also what are you using?

Hey, Im jealouse you have Falys and even more jealouse that you have a gravid female! lol

What I would try and do is build a starter hole for her (maybe she is feeling a bit lazy), then put a stick from her normal perching spot down directly to her bucket, Im sure that will get her attention :)

Good Luck with her and keep us updated:)

I def will try that, I already have her vines go directly into the pot. Ill just make a little hole so she can finish it off. Ill keep everyone updated! Thank you all for your input.

I just thought of what i did when my female laid her 2nd clutch properly. At night after her lights went out, I took some sphagnum moss, put it in a plastic bag and ran hot water into the bag from the tap. I drained all the excess water and placed the damp moss loosely on the top of the dirt in the bin. I covered her cage with a sheet and by the next day, I had 23 eggs buried as deep as they would go in the bin.

So she hasn't dropped n e more eggs since! so its a total of 9 eggs that were dropped earlier, but like i said no new eggs dropped and I started a little hole for her to entice her to start digging. I also gave her natural sun today and will do so tomorrow. Hope she takes care of business!

I hope so too. I know what you are going through. Its very nerve racking to see eggs dropped on the floor.
