what do you do when your plants get root bound in bioactive enclosures where you attach the pots to the wall?

I see where people attach their pot and use pond and stone foam around them so there is no replacing it easily and repotting into a bigger pot. im even more concerned about pothos getting too rootbound and eventually dying. it would be a pain pulling it out after it grows and attaches to everything.

You could maybe divide it up to keep same size pot?
