what do I feed to my dubia colony?

to maintain the colony i feed mine a mix of cat food and oats/grain cereal with a orange in the crate for them to drink from. A few days to a week before I feed them off I take some and put them in a different container and feed them good gutload salad so they have a chance to get good stuff into them.

haha thanks :) i will get that stuff soon :) look through my house ill find something!

if you need to know what to gutload your feeders with do a search of 'gutload' it will give you lots of ideas of good stuff to feed your feeders. I personally make 'salads' by mixing up all different nutritious things like carrots, bee pollen, kale, dandelion greens, berries, apple, etc...

I found my Dubias (and crickets) really enjoyed carrots. I generally gave the Dubias carrot slices (thick enough to maintain moisture), other chopped fruits and veggies, bee pollen, dry cereal... I gave them a little more individualized attention than the crix, which mostly get carrots and NatureZone Cricket Total Bites (a commercial gutload which is almost certainly not very cost effective, but is easy). Unless you're buying one day's worth of crickets at a time, I'd recommend feeding them as well so you're sure they're full of nutrition when it comes time for them to be eaten.

awesome! i will do so! :) I can get kale at runnings for like 1.00 :) so i will get that and many more veggies :) do you know anything about hornworms ?

i know that my Carmie really likes them, that they are quite easy to keep alive and they grow fast. im not sure how they compare in nutrition to silkies which i find harder to keep alive for long and require more care.
