What can i do???

i don't want to be the guy that is the downer.. but hopefully you can rescue her!

lets be realistic here tho?

how long of shape has she been like this for?
and expect possibly an expensive vet bill if its something serious, as much as i love chameleons the owner of the pet store shouldn't be selling her if there is something wrong with her, and its sad to know that these chameleons are taken care of horribly!

i really thought takin her back to the pet store was your best option, i hate to hear about all what's going on, but lets say if miguel doesn't make it, and you spend all this money on a vet bill and whatever you need... for having her for 5 days and she was already in that condition, you would of been better off taking her back and getting a quality chameleon through one of the breeders from our sponsors.. im just trying to help since these times aren't the times where money use to just grow on trees

I will keep her and i will go to the vet with her tomorrow....

I am glad that you decided to help her. If the price of the vet is a concern they should be able to give you an estimate when you make the appointment. Here's a couple of threads where some other new members decided to save their chameleons. Jann

Yes, let's be realistic. This specimen is not in terrible shape. Perhaps she should not have been sold, but there are much much worse out there. With some decent TLC she could make a full recovery and lead a good long life.

Miguel: I'm glad you are taking her to see a professional. It will be a bit of a drive for you to see Daren, but it's well worth it. Yes you can use plastic plants but real ones are much better for keeping and holding humidity. Make sure they are washed well before putting them in her cage. Daren may suggest using either, both or none at all depending on his diagnosis.

Bonne chance!

I'm worried that the pet shop will not get her the treatment that she needs.

This is true, but it is not the problem. We cant go around saving the sick animals that petshops sell. By doing this we are part of the problem, we feed thier unethical business and it result in more animals that will suffer for it. Help these animals and you are in a sense contributing to many more animals suffering.

Try to find a private breeder instead and stop going to bad stores that sell sick animals. Their bad business should not be condoned.

In my opinion, a poor animal should not have to suffer just because pet shops are bad.

Exactly what i think!!!!!

Buying sick chams from bad pet stores just encourages them to bring in more chams to kill. imo

It help me .... thanks....

I called to the vet this morning and he told me that i should keep an eye on her. It wasn't a need to go asap because she doing better and better.... He told me that Cham is really sensitive and it's normal that she's shy for the first 3 days or so.... Now she have her eyes open mostly all the time and she eat like a little pork... lol.....

I spray warm water in the habbitat and she seem to drink....

I'm really happy and thanks everyone to help me out....

Last quesstion:

Can i put a Basilic plant in her habitat???? It's a spice so i think it should be ok...... :p

I don't think Basilic is safe. I can not find it on the safe plant list. Glad that she's doing better.

I understand your dilemma about returning her to the shop and knowing she would not get the care she needs versus buying a sick animal in the first place.

No shop should sell sick animals, period. A suggestion for the future...Maybe request a reduced price to help you pay for the vet. That way the shop doesn't get their full profit from a sick cham and she does get the care she needs.
