great spiders and beetles and mantis photos!

@Andee: Those Scarabs are beautiful!

I'd like to get into keeping some of the weird beetles but they are hard to find and/or get in Canada.

agree. if you ever find a source, share it with me!

Great stuff Sandra! Thanks for sharing :) I really wish we could keep exotic sticks here :( love those millipedes in the first pic aswell!

@ little leaf, rhinos beetles only live around 4 months as beetles and require 2 years to reach that stage! Haha there fun but you gotta be patient ;)

I waited 17 yrs to get a cham, wanted to be sure I did my research :p
I have patience ;) :p

you guys sure have some BEAUTIFUL bugs - its so funny to me how my chams have led me to keeping bugs I do not even feed or need -lol and the " 9 " mantis is my next goal - I love this thread !!

what kind is this ? I found this last yr in the grapes ??

I keep only feeders; silk worms, horn worms, isopods, snails, dubia roaches, red runner roaches, and super worms Etc, but they all have happy families in my house.

Other then feeders just a single scorp. Babycurus gigas. Only had s/he for a month or two so any advice you have id be open to.

I would keep it between 75-82 F and humidity around 70% usually best to keep half the enclosure bone dry and the other half damp. There known to be pretty defensive and being the family buthidae I would avoid a sting at all costs! There venom isn't known to be medically significant but better safe then sorry ;)
Be sure to keep a water dish with clean water available. Think of it like a fish look but no touch lol so keep ya booger hooks at a safe distance and post some pics ;)

Very cool collection and pictures. That picture of that massive water beetle will for sure give me nightmares! I was attacked by one in late summer a few months back at the Walmart parking lot.. I hate them with a burning passion.

I personally keep a Pink Toe Tarantula, and a Rose Hair Tarantula. I used to have a colony of Hissing Cockroaches but found them a new suitable home that would put up with their nightly hissing concerts. I'm hoping to get a A. versicolor from a good friend in early spring when shipping weather turns around and I having been aching to get back into keeping Mantids.

Thank you for sharing such a diverse collection!

Your welcome and I'm glad you enjoy them :) now if I can figure out where my other 1000 pictures are I can post a few more ;)
I did mantids for a while. In the long run though I decided they just weren't for me. I may try again one day...
