I've got a lil extra money left over from the paycheck, so I thought of getting my cham Liz started on some Silkies. What do yall recommend for a complete silkworm setup to allow maximum vitality? Cage, food, eggs, whatever, I just wanna make sure if I do this, I wanna do it right.

If i were you i'd order a pod to start out to see if you cham even likes them.. Alot of people say chams go nuts over silkies which is true but some chams dont want anything to do with them. The pods have enough food to last them a couple weeks. The best value is to have them put the small ones in there and wait 3 or 4 days to feed them off. By then they've grown about 300%. Just store the pod in a warm spot in the house.

Awesome, appreciate the advice you guys. I went ahead and followed your advice, Nico, and ordered a pod of silkies and also a cup of phoenix worms. Will keep yall posted on how they work out.

Yeah that is a good idea to make sure they will like them. Those are good links to read also. I just want to say hatching the eggs and keeping them are super easy. I use an incubator so temps are perfect. About a week later they hatch and I feed them in the container for a week. After that transfer them to a shoe box. To clean it I just make sure all the food dries up then the worms will be still on them. Take them out dump the frass and put them back in and put fresh food in. They only prob I have is keeping the chow moist untill they eat it allup. I now put ceran wrap over the box and put the lid on it and feed a little more then they can eat before it dries. This gives them something to roam around on while waiting for fresh food. You can easily control the growth rate by feeding less and keeping in lower temps. I LOVE SILKIES!!!
