What a nightmare (UPS DOES IT AGAIN)

Well UPS has done it again. I came home today to get a package that was to be here by 10:30am. I tracked it and it says out for delivery. I waited until about 11am to call them and find out whats up.

Well I guess they lost my package. They contacted the driver(that took an hour) and he says he does not have the package. IT IS OUT FOR DELIVERY. That means on the truck right.!!!!????!!?!!!!!!!!

We'll the worst part is the package contains (14) 2 adult and 4.8 young Hypo & Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail Leopard Geckos. :( I am really hoping they show up tonight. I feel horable for them if the package is truely lost. I hate not being able to do anything about it.

Oh man! You gotta love the holiday rush! That is when all the mistakes happen. I had a box of chameleons get lost last year for a day! No one could tell me where the package was then all the sudden it just "appeared" They were fine just VERY stressed fter being in a box for over 2 days! Maybe the geckos will be ok. I know it is cold over here at night right now though. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I feel for ya...

I shipped out a tortoise to New Jersey on Tuesday before Thanksgiving for a Wednesday arrival, and they lost it and didn't deliver it until Friday! Fortunately, the tortoise was fine (I had used a 60 hour heat pack that was still warm on arrival), but I didn't sleep good those nights....

Even with all the screw ups, though, I still feel like they're better (more consistent) than FedEx.

I haven't had a problem up until now. I hope it shows up. I feel like the chances are a lot better being in California rather than somewhere colder.

I am going to send an email to the guy to see what kind of heat pack he used.

I still trust them more than fedex. The last live thing I had shipped fedex, the driver rang and ran. When I found the package behind my door plant, it looked like ace ventura had his way with it. All smashed in and the corners were all rounded. UPS only for me!

My 2nd cham was delivered to a similar address in New York (I am in Cali...no fault of the breeder but of UPS). The package was left on a freezing cold doorstep for around 6 hours before being opened by a freaked out person who opened the package and sent him back 'return to sender' (I dream about that kind of stuff....a random cham being delivered to me and turning up on my doorstep :p) and then sent back to the breeder. He was in transit for 3 1/2 days. The breeder had to keep him for a week before re-shipping to make sure he was ok......I dont like or trust any delivery or postal service :(

I hope your little ones turn up fiesty and healthy Ryan :)

They are here and they are fine!!!

I am sooo happy .. they guy I got them from packed them really nice.

I didn't think of the holiday thing. I think next time I will wait to have them shipped.

Hi Ryan,

Glad to hear they are fine, where did you get them from? I think i would be very beneficial if someone could point the rest of us on how to ship for chams (or geckos in this case) properly. I am located in Canada and I've been tempted to send or bring some animals to the other side of the country but I have no clue how to properly pack them.

Glad to hear you got them ok. On the plus side, you can't kill a leopard gecko if you try, so you have that working with you LOL....

I had another shipment that went out yesterday get delayed, and is now scheduled for tomorrow in Michigan, where it's like 12 degrees. Tis the season!

HA HA that is a good point. I found myself saying over and over I am glad they are leopard geckos... Tis the season, is right. :D

oh cool. Glad they are ok. I was thinking the same thing too with them being leopard geckos! lol! That is one hearty lizard! hahaha!

Ryan, so glad to hear you got your leopards okay. Did any of them lose their tails? I had one shipped UPS overnight from Columbus Ga to Metter Ga (about 3 hours from here) and he lost his tail in transit. I can't imagine what happened to him in that UPS truck???

no they all had their tails , poor guy must have been tossed around the truck

omg you just scared the s*@t out of me i have a pair of oustalets coming tomorrow i hope theres no problems

Glad they all got there Ryan. After my 4 years at UPS, I will NEVER ship anything through them unless its an extreme last resort...especially a living organism. I've seen first hand what can (and OFTEN does) happen to packages there.

Oh yeah ups is bad!! I just got a dragon about 3 months ago shipped through them. When it got her the box was all dented and smashed. It was CLEARLY labeled all over it that it was a live animal, so when he handed me the box I looked at him and said you're joking right!?! He looks at me and says is there really a animal in there?? I said yeah may not be alive though with the looks of the box, so he asked me to open it infront of him. Luckily she was fine and actually not scared at all like some other dragons I have had shipped.
Yeah UPS can be a nighmare!!
