This guy comes from my RBBB lines. Guess he's not really into red much.
There is no Nosy Be in him, I bred him and both his parents. He's just a whack job!

Hey Matt, I know it usually goes in that direction, red coming in after the blue,

but this guy is a whack job. He had more red at 6 months than he does now. For ID look at the dots at the tail end of his white lateral line, and the white dot on his shoulder.

Well, we dont know much about the genes that control panther cham colors yet. I was breeding corn snakes for quite a while and we know tons about the recessive genes and codominant genes that affect their colors and patterns. It will be interesting to see what we eventually figure out about panthers. BTW, I think he's extraordinary.

That's what my flame thrower did! He is the guy in the photo contest. For a while he was bright red and blue and then he turned in to a light pink, nearly white with very light blue bars and now he is fire hydrant red with beautiful blue bars!

Such an atypical succession of color development! That is why I like to hold on to the odd ones to see where they go with all that color change over time!

Matt, what your Flame Thrower went through is the normal drab down time I've experienced with all my male ambiloles. They can't keep up the breeding colors all the time, it's hormonally driven. I think we've talked about this before. My male hasn't gone through the first drab period yet, he's still brightly colored. This is a backward color progression, he's a whack job!
BTW, Flame Thrower is beautiful!! My drab periods last different amounts of time depending on the individual male, 3-6 months. Interestingly in captivity it's not an annual cycle. And my males don't go into it all at the same time, it appears to happen willy nilly. How long did your male remain drab colored?

This is the most intense color change any of my boys experienced. It lasted 7.5 months. I did realy like is light pink look! Though I knew that it would probably not be his adult colors I started having hope when it lasted as long as it did.

That pink was unlike anything I have ever seen before.

Cowgirl is down to maybe 1 small silk worm a day, there's not much more room in there! Don't tell her I said that.
