Well, that was a fail....

So I got 7 small hissing and 1 dubia cockroaches, and I just thought I could dump them in the chams cage. They just sat on the bottom and didn't move. I did see one of the chams catch one, but am I supposed to cup feed them?

Will they eventually move enough to get noticed, or will they die first?

What does everyone do?

Cup Feed!

There is another good reason to cup feed. Those roach dudes are sneaky. They will move into a plant pot and live undetected for quite a while. It will be warm enough for them and they will have access to food (plants, cham poop and perhaps the cham) and water. They come out at night when your cham is asleep.

I havent heard of roaches ( Dubia in this case ) nibbling on chameleons, though crickets are infamous for it. If you have heard of this... ide like to know more pardalisgirl, its certainly interesting!

To the OP, you can either cup feed - though it may take some training unless your chameleon is already used to it..

personally what I do with Dubia is contain the feeding group in a cup and then put them one by one onto branches in the chameleons cage. The first time My Leonardo ( Adult panther ) just kinda looked at the Dubia for a good five minutes, stick his tongue out in the "im aiming!" point of view, but then he quickly slipped it back in.

Eventually he got brave and snagged it off the branch and proceeded to eat his yummy dinner. My Ambanja on the other hand couldn't wait until I put Dubia on the branches and snagged it from my hand...

My chams hate dubias, though everything else likes them. For the chams, it's adult male Turkistan roaches. I've never seen chams go for anything like they do a quick male turk.
