Weeping fig loosing leaves

Why is my weeping fig (ficus) loosing loads on leaves suddenly?

If it is a newly acquired plant or a plant that has been moved from one location to another, this can happen. It is due to stress.

I am assuming that the soiled it not dried out in the plant.

I have had the plant for about 5 months now and suddenly it's started. I think it must be getting to much water for my misting system, will direct nozzles away!

Keep in mind chameleons drink from the leaves.Try picking up an extra plant or two so you can swap them out untill you plants get there leaves back.

The cage is full of plants so there will still be plenty

What type of cage is that? Do you have to worry about drainage at the bottom of your cage with your misting setup?

Yes I use drainage, I empty it each week and there is a decent amount of water, without it my floor would be flooded. The cage is a reptibreeze

I have to agree mine used to do this, I rarely water my plants at all any more misting seems to be more than enough

ficus are notorious for loosing its leaves and eventually dying due to over saturated soil all the time...

Ficus benjamina , which I assume you have, can't alter the stomata in it's leaves (small holes used for gass exchange). So when the plant is moved to a new climate (change in humidity, temperature or watering regime) without acclimatising, it sheds its leaves but should quickly regrow new ones with modified leaves to its new surroundings

much better than the simplified "they dont like change" response I was going to give
