Its a custom 20 gal. long for right now we will be getting them a 40 gal. once they grow up a little they are still young. i will get some pics of there set up this afternoon when i get home;)

I always thought these were actual toads -- I'm glad I looked at your pics! Totally adorable little creatures, so I think I'm going to look into them a bit more. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome score! Will they eat crix also? I saw that pic with the crick in it. These guys cant eat fire ants though right? Isnt that why we dont see them much anymore, the fire ants kind of took them all out?

Yeah they eat crickets too you can spray the crickets with vinager so they are still getting the acid that the harvester ant naturaly have in them they also eat millworm beatels and harvester ant they are the same price a crickets 16 shipped a 1000. I dont know if it was the fire ants ran and killed the horny toads or if they ran off and killed the harvester ants im not sure.

I knew fire ants had something to do with their reduced numbers. Hope you have good luck with them. Did you get a pair to breed or are these just pets?

It was the insectiseds we use and the fire ants that hurt the population. But they are returing slowly.

Those are 2 males I have. Only a handful of females came in this year. They get a small shipment of them in this time of year. But I am going to keep my eye out for females. A CB horny toad would be a neat thing to have.

One other cool thing about them is I read they can not get parisites because they eat the ants that have the natural acid in them and no parisite can even think about becoming a host. I thought that was cool. I will do a fecal test tonight just to make sure. Also another cool thing I found out that I still have to look in too is feeding your crickets with medicated chicken feed to clear out parisites in WC reptiles and 99% of reptiles can handle it with no issues becuase it is such a small dose over time. So if anyone has heard of this let me know. It sounds like a safer way to clean up wc.

I do know that reptiles and birds share quite a bit of the same dna. So its not totally out of the realm of possibility. I know alot of the same things I did with my blue & gold supplementation wise (calcium, dietary needs) carry over to the chams. Keep me updated on that. That would be an awesome way to clean up a wc. Without the stress of medicating and the toll on the kidneys.
