water crystals

So when you buy the water crystals from the dubia website you are buying 16oz of dry crystals, so you will have the ability to make 16 gallons of water crystals?

If so, it's a heck of a lot better deal than buying the flukers gel water stuff from PetCo or where ever.

Of course there is probably no calcium supplementation going on with the dry crystals...

Just water. The rest of your gut load should have the proper nutrition. But it is still cheaper and easier.

Here are my crystals at work.

I've actually hydrated my crystals with water that has a calcium powder dissolved in it. It made the crystals white, so it does suck it up.

Yes, the Fluker's stuff is ripoff. You're paying for shipping of something you can get for free (water).

I sell it, but I'm pretty sloppy when I measure for forum members. :) Heck, sometimes I lose count and have to start all over!

Could I buy some from you? How much do you charge? I would really enjoy saving some money since I buy the Fluker's crap about once a week.

Thinking of the impaction thread , does the water crstals have any bad effects on the insects if dried out some ? If you take some already made fresh crystals , will they absorb more water ? I had a colony of crickets die off pretty suddenly & wonder if that may have been part if not all the problem .

It doesn't seem to be an issue if it's inside the insect. A whole lot of people have been feeding crystal hydrated insects for a long time.

I do think you want them well hydrated and they hold a lot of water! I start with a tablespoon of the dry crystal to a quart of water. If, after a day, it still seems so wet it might drown the crickets , I add a pinch more and wait another day. I leave my crystals "wet" enough that I have to dry my hand after scooping some into the bin but not so wet water pools out of the crystal.
