Washed my plant several times and still has white powder on it

I have a pretty large schefflera tree and I threw buckets of soapy water on it for about 20 min then sprayed it down with the hose for 10 min then stuck it in my bathtub filled with soapy water and swished it around and dunked it 5 times then turned on the shower and cleaned it off for 10 min and it still has some white powder substance on the leaves.

What is it and is it bad for my panther cham?

Its probably just calcium/mineral deposits. Its always on my leaves. If you washed it that well there shouldnt be anything harmful left on it.

oh ok thats good, I was like freaking out because my cham will be here tomorrow and i need to get that tree in the cage so I can set everything up around it

Yup that happens to me too. You'll probably want to clean the leaves once a week as well. I hand mist my plants and after a few days of misting I do get some white stuff on the leaves which prevents water from beading on them. My guy only drinks from the leaves so for me keeping the leaves clean is important. I have a shefflera as well.

out of curiosity, why did you use soapy water (as opposed to just water?)

I'm not really seeing why, but it seems like it would be more harmful than helpful? (you are just adding more chemicals in the mix?)

or did I miss something?

if you are using tap water to do your rinsing, then it is very likely mineral/calcium deposits from your tap on the leaves. nothing to worry about (but a final rinse with distilled water should help clear it up even further)

pesticides are probly water resistance so you dont wash it off while watering your plant thats probly the reason why soap is required
