Warm enough?

Hi,

my veiled is just about 7 months old now. His basking spot is 91-92F. Is that warm enough? Or too warm?

Thanks

Yep that would be on the upper end of acceptable for a veiled of that age. Just be sure you have a decent thermal gradient so he can find cooler places to chill if need be.

did i post in the wrong section or did it get moved to the wrong section? I'm sure I posted in general husbandry lol

Thanks. so does that mean he might need it even hotter as he grows?

With my adult male veileds I like to give them about 95-100 in the HOTTEST spot in the cage. I find they will use it in the morning and then move off to a area closer to 90

cheers, it was probably me posting in the wrong place, I do stuff like that.

He has a gradient in his cage- hot at the top on one side & cooler from there on. I considered putting in another bulb at 85 on the other side of the cage but I'm not sure he needs it.

It'll start getting colder in the next month or 2 & I'm trying to work out if he'll need a heat emitter for the night. I might buy one just in case.

I wouldn't worry about a heat source at night. I've never bothered. We don't have heating on overnight in the house after the heating goes off at about 8pm. They actually benefit from a drop in temps at night - as long as they have somewhere to back and get up to temp in the mornings they are fine. It can get as low as freezing where they are in the wild.

ah, that's ok then. We don't have the heating on over night but I really doubt it would get cooler than 60F/16C in Winter. thanks :)
