Want to buy this little guy. I don't know if he's healthy though.

I saw this veiled at the petstore and I want to buy him so bad.

I'm an experienced lizard owner, but have never had a chameleon before.
I noticed that has a lump on the left side of the neck and crest

(sorry for the bad camera phone picture) The right side does not have it.

As far as I can tell, he looks happy and healthy. But I don't want to spend $100 and find out that he's sick. Is that bump something I should worry about?

Also, what is an estimation on the age? I think it's a female, but I could be wrong.

Look at the site sponsors on here and buy from a reputable breeder like www.flchams.com or one of the other sponsors. I know it's hard to resist the cuties in the pet stores, but you will be MUCH happier with a cham breeder

Just my opinion

Not sure what the bump is, but if you buy from a chain pet store there is a good chance he will have parasites or a respiratory infection. I have recent experience with this and ended up spending $250 on vet bills for a chameleon that looked healthy for the first two days.

Also, chameleons have special requirements so be prepared to spend at least $500 on equipment and probably closer to $1000.

Im not a veiled owner to my eyes he looks quite healthy but my advice is go for a breeder. You say you never owned chams before and a good breeder will give you advice on how to care for them I'm sure the petstore would as well but they often lie to make a sale or just don't know that much.
