My veiled chamaleon is about a year or so old. He was a gift from my niece. He like all others love to wander around all day in his cage. Well today like everyday i go check up on him to see what he needs as he likes to get out for a brisk walk on my hand up to my shoulder and around to back and then across to the other side. Well i noticed that he had something hanging off his backleg and saw that it was his nail and not skin. It looks to me that he was caught on the screen cage and either fell or just pulled till he was free. Well it looks red near thr.skin and now i see parts of his gumline kinda dark. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions? Anybody? Would greatly appreciate any help.

I would rev omen a quick cleaning with iodine diluted to about 10% and some polysporin applied to the area. Chams often will pull a nail and be just fine but if you have caught is early a little care to help prevent any possible infection is always so good idea

Thank you for the help. Sorry about the response. I was actually able to see a vet down the street and she gave me the green light my little guy. I asked if she would recommend anything for the nail, but just said that iy will come off natutally and not worry. And as for the gums, not to worry either. Unless he had gout then we would have to worry. So vinny is in good health. Thanks again.
