Verrucosus behavioral compilation

Hey people!

I would like to hear various stories about how Furcifer verrucosus behave and eat/drink on a daily basis. I am having a hard time determining if what my chameleons do is normal or not, and reading various posts everywhere didn't bring me enough answers.

I know there are a few Furcifer verrucosus breeders, I would like to hear from all of you. The more we are, the better the informations will be! Of course, including some basic infos is important too, such as if they are WC or CB, age, for how long you had them, etc.

I'll start with myself:

Subspecie: verrucosus
Locality: Morondava
WC or CB: wild caught
Age: approximatively 4 months for the female, 9 for the male
How long i've had them: one week

Behavioral description:
So far, both chameleons have their little routine. The female always does the same: she moves to her basking spot when she wakes up, up to noon, and then move to the middle of her enclosure, always under the same plant, and she barely moves from there every once in a while, but never really far away!

The male seems a lot more timid than the female. He can spend a few hours a day basking, on various time of the day, but he spends most of his time very well hidden under the pot of his Philodendron. In a week so far, i even found him hidden for up to 18 hours in a row.

Eating description:
None of them are handfed. I usually have a few worms roaming into their enclosures, usually silkworms and hornworms. I also have superworms and crickets in two cups, one close to their basking spot and one under their Philodendron, on the ground level. So far, i only saw them eat the free worms, and everything from the cup at their basking spot. A daily diet is usually made of a medium worm (horn or silkworm), and two crickets or a superworm.

Drinking description:
I only caught them drinking once, and it was while handmisting a week ago (when i just got them). My girlfriend and I run drippers at least twice a day, and we mist them from time to time, usually early and late in the day (everywhere between 1 to 3 hours before and after sleeping). They also have good silkworms and hornworms as a water source.

Weighting:
I haven't started weighting them, but it's just a matter of a few days. For various reasons i feel like i handled them too much, and i would like to leave them alone for a few days! ;) I plan on doing it once a week for both of them.

Reproduction:
My female is too young to mate yet, but i'd like to how they look when they are receptive. Also, what kind of laying bin do you use? What is inside the bin, how long does it take, etc? The more info the happier i will be! ;)

Winter slow-down:
I haven't had them during winter, but have you? Were they different?

I have kept verrucosus outdoors during the summer in temps up to 105 f in the direct sunlight. As you stated the will hide near the pot in the shade to escape heat. I provided a well planted cage with a dripper all day. Not much water was consumed from the dripper. I mist the enclosure only 1-2 times a day even in the extreme heat. Night drop was typically 30 + degrees cooler in the evening with a cool morning sometimes reaching as low as 55f.

I have witnessed a winter slowdown where food consumption is less but activity seems to be the same routine. They remain sedentary and hide most of the time.

Alright! Thank you Ryan!

Please, other breeders, let us know your experience, even if you have a small experience!! If you don't express yourself, i'll hug you! :D
