Veiled vs. Hornworm

My veiled didn't learn about horn worms the easy way.
The first time he had a worm he shot from it off my hand and ended up biting my finger with it.
Second time was the harshest time, he ended up shooting at it from far away and having to run after his tongue, poor guy.
I feel terrible for laughing when it happened.

Haha... I've had mine struggle with them like that also.

Is that a mirror behind his cage? You should block that. He will think he has another male staring at him and taunting his every move all day. Could be stressfull.

i've never seen a veiled eat. are they all that aggressive and quick? my trioceros fuelleborni is much slower and alot more...gentle... if thats the word i want to use. it also takes my guy alot longer to get his tongue ready. should his be as quick at the draw? Pokey slowly moves toward his food while getting his tonuge ready then sticks it out half way then BAM! but hes much slower in every aspect.

I think my veiled is more accustomed to people being around him. When I got him, he was in a cage in a very active room, and they said they had handled him more than once a week, didn't seem too stressed out or anything, all things considered. It's the opposite at my house, though. Perhaps it's a difference in species. Are they WC?

Anywho, he's normally not that chomp-chomp-aggressive. He usually takes his time, for the most part. I think the change in food from crickets in a cup to sticky hornworms made his attitude change a bit.

my fuelle is CB and is handled alot and in a very active room. when he was little he would hang on the side of his cage and watch me until i put my hand in for him to crawl on. he goes to the pet store with me at least once a month, i have a 4 year old that he loves to climb on. hes very social and calm... if there was a stoner chameleon, it would be him.

@Lbona - I wouldn't know for sure but I'd have to say either it's the species or amount of handling.

great video...

about a week ago I put in an ultra small hornworm for my baby Splat.
the worm was on the side of a leaf and held on tight...
it was so funny watching his head swing back and forth, all while his tail was suporting him from a branch from up above.

he was like a mini hamuck swinging between two leafs, trying to remove that worm....
