Veiled hatchlings!

Hey guys, my veiled eggs started hatching today. So far, two hatchlings are out. I was able to snap these quick photos of the two before I had to go off and baby proof some live plants for them and get my fruit fly cultures going.

i didnt realize veilds were born with so much color already, thats awesome! they are too cute

from the babies that i saw at the expo, alot of the vieleds had those markings, of course id naturally assume its a defense mechanism to help them chamoflauge while they are so small.

I had 16 eggs but a few collapsed and shriveled. We will see how many more hatch- should be at least ten I think

Also, veiled babies are usually green- that one was being a grump- his brother was tromping around beside him and kept kind of climbing on him. Go figure, they find that part of the cage and stay beside each other. They are actually sleeping side by side right now

Anyone have some super secret pro baby raising tips I can be let in on now?

this is the reason why most species of chameleon babies are monochromatic..

Time for some update pics! I have three so far- one is kind of weakish and is staying in the incubator for now but I expect him to do fine.

It would seem I have two males and one female so far. Here are some photos I took today.

No idea. 4 months or so?

I can tell gender because of their spurs.

The casque on my female started to become noticable at about 2 months, until then it just appeared as a ridge on her head. It seems they don't reach an appreciable size until about 3 months, but it could be different for males.
