i just got my first chameleon just over a week ago. he has been doing very good, eating lots and exploring his new environment. this morning when i woke up i noticed a black patch on his face. it covers one of his eyes and all around, i will attempt to get a picture posted. since he got the patch hes been sleeping alot, i keep misting him as often as normal. im worried because hes usually more active. what should i do?!?! please help me out guys!

I agree, a burn is most likely. Pictures are good. It seems like new members can attach pictures to posts, so try for that. You need to click "POST REPLY" to get that option, not use the quick reply. PM me if you run into problems.

In the meantime, we need to ask why there might be a burn...usually it means they get too close to a bulb...sometimes it means that they get too close to something that gets heated up by a bulb. Look at your set up and see what might be HOT.

You might benefit from filling out the information in the "how to ask for help" thread stickied in this forum...I assure you, people want that information. Just copy the questions and paste them into a reply, type in your responses. Be as explicit as you can. No one here will shy away from a detailed description of poop...in fact, we would really like to see a picture of the poop...(it's a process...but I swear, have a chameleon for more than 6 months and you will find yourself asking for pictures of poop).

hey guys. i have a pic for you, not the best quality cuz i dont want to disturb poor hector. and my camera really sucks. the black spot has faded a bit today so let me know what you think, and thank you to those who are helpin me out!

I can't tell much from that picture regarding the black spot, but I will tell you that there is some severe MBD issues with this animal.
He needs to go to the vet ASAP.
Calcium treatments should commence immediately.
Where did you get this animal?

he is just a baby. only about 3 months. i have the calcium treatment, but he hasnt eaten much since the black spot. i got him at a ruffins pet store in tillsonburg ontario, i am going to be calling the vet today and hopefully getting him in asap

Calcium powder in his food is not what Brad is referring to. You need to get this little guy to the vet ASAP! He doesn't look too good. He needs to be treated for Metabolic Bone Disease.

ive been calling vets and pet centers all day. i am trying to get him in asap. im just really freaked out cuz he is so small. his black spot is almost gone tho? just basically on his eye. but since he isnt eating as much right now, am i able to have calcium powder in his water? he does drink alot.
