Veiled Chameleon Eye Out of Socket?

Mine chameleons bulge on his eye would come out and go away many times during the day, the only time it would come out was when he would itch it, so its going away when asleep because its not irratated.

But his eye is out all the time, or at least when hes awake, from what I understand.

Yes, I'm so sorry it was A vitamins, thanks so much Elizadolots. I have no idea why I said B vitamins. Well soild snake we only saw a couple seconds of the chameleon, so we can't know for sure, i'm just telling you from my experience with my chameleon, his eye looked exactly like that a few months ago.

A, B....they're right next to each other in the alphabet....lol

There's been a lot of discussion here on Vitamin A and eyes...that's why I thought it might be what you were thinking of.

That aside, it wasnt an issue until the chameleon was rubbing it(which is normal shedding behavior). Please understand I am arguing to diagnose the chameleon, not to discount your information. Lets get to the bottom of this if we can.

Yes, haha, I don't think I read it from here though but there is some link with eyes and vitamin A, and soild snake if the eye is so irratated the bulge will not go back unless it will fit back behind the eye there is only so much space back there, do you get what I'm saying, I am trying to get to the bottom of this with your help. The chameleons eye must have been itchy and was trying to remove skin on his eye, well he irratated it and the duct was swollen shut and his eye is swollen with fluid now.

I do understand what your saying. Maybe a piece of shed skin went into the eye, and it irritated it?
Looking at the video repeatedly, It seems there is somthing in the eye socket preventing the eye returning. Near the end, it seems somthing, white in color, actually protrudes from the eye opening. This corroborates your theory.
Whatever is in the eye, will have to be removed if its in there yes?

Mgoulet, I saw your setup while watching the video, the setup is not right, your chameleon should not be in a fish tank, and shouldn't have substrate, you need a new screen cage. Solid snake, if you watch the video on the side there is pictures of the setup, and that could be it, we may have found the problem it may be a piece of skin stuck in his eye yea all he will have to do is get a towel with warm water and wipe it, or carefully remove it with forceps if it sticks out.

Yes we covered his cage issue here:

Maybe he can indeed get it out tomarrow, if thats what we are seeing.

Sorry didn't know that you addressed it already, I really wish people would do lots of research before houseing a chameleon, but I geuss thats why we have this forum, and I geuss we will wait and see tomorrow. :)

I agree, but I wish I would have taken that advice myself. I bought my first one on a whim, and had to get up to speed fast. I wouldnt have made it without this forum, and try to help out where I can.

I didn't know about this forum until like a few weeks ago, I bought my little euigene, and ordered him the cage he's in now right when I got him now, he's nine months old and always is doing something bad, and is my first chameleon and my only one. I try my hardest to help when i can, and thanks for helping me figure this out with you. :)

I guess we will have to wait to continue. Thanks for not thinking I wanted to argue, I get that somtimes. If the irritant is removed soon, there shouldnt be an issue of infection and so on. I just hope it can come out of there without a surgery. The poor thing looks so uncomfortable. :(

My female Veil had the same type of issue during one of her shedings. After 3 days of her rubbing, I took some tweezers to the dry skin around her eye (like eye lid) and there was a tiny little piece in the opening area. I did it at night while she was sleeping and it didn't even wake her up. That being said, it might not be what your dealing with.

Yeah I know, sometimes people won't even think about what I am saying without aruging with me there are a couple people on this forum that just want to be right all the time and don't want to work together to fix the problem, thanks for actually listening about what I have to say, I always research anything I write on this forum just to let you know, so i'm not just speaking opinions. Hope he gets better which he probaly will.. :)

To the original poster, did you take yours to the vet? Find anything out? I just posted that mine has the same problem (bulge in the eye) and when I showered him with warm water just now, he started bulging his eye around just like your's did. Now it looks normal, but he's keeping it closed.
