Veiled Chameleon Eating Benjamina Ficus Leaves

My Veiled Cham (Yoda) has been eating the Benjamina Ficus plant Leaves in his Cage. The plant is Organic and was washed down before I placed it in his cage. Is this a normal activity for Veiled to eat leaves as I thought all Chams ate Insects only? My Panther (Tie Dye) has the same plant in his cage but he only eats Insects.

Heres a link to the video of him eating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx3ApgxJbhs

Veilds are plant eaters and you can also feed them fruits and vegetable. I have heard of panthers eating plants and fruits and veggies also but it is not very common. Mainly Veilds eat insects but will eat the other also.

Thx for the answer, what type of Veggies and fruits should I try to feed my Veiled and should I put it in a bowl or leave them on the branches in his cage? :)

You can feed them small amounts of mango and sometimes banana. Strawberries and oranges are good, NEVER NEVER NEVER feed avacado.

Some chams won't touch fruit if left in a bowl. Your best bet is to hand feed. It's totally different than a bearded dragon, they're usually not going to just chomp down unless you sort of mix bugs up in it.

What I do is mix up a salad with around 3 ingredients and shred/chop the veggies so they are about like coleslaw. There are iguana salad ideas on the internet that are a good starting point as far as ingredients. I put the salad into bowls and toss and then add insects to the salads. At first, veileds eat the salad accidentally when shooting bugs and it sticks to their tongues. But after a while, they start to eat it on their own even when there are no bugs.

And yes, after it being offered for a while, mine will chomp it down.

I've found shredded bits of carrot are particularly attractive for whatever reason- if your cham is hand fed it will sometimes take bits of shredded carrot from fingers as well.

My veiled loves lettuce and strawberries. Whenever I hold a strawberry in my hand he runs over and eats it.
