veiled Cham abdominal growth

We are babysitting our son's 7+ year old male veiled chameleon. In the past couple of months, his cham has developed a growth of some sort in the middle of his belly between his front legs. It does not seem to impede his movement at all and there have not been any changes in his eating, drinking or elimination habits. My son recently transferred him to his travel cage for transport to our house. While in the travel cage he has brushed the growth against the screen and it is periodically bleeding.

I have attached some pictures I took this AM. My question is.....do you have any idea what this is and considering his advanced age do you think it is anything we should look in to treating?

Hard to tell by just looking. Possibilities are an abscess or a growth. Both are surgical corrections by the vet.

That is pretty old for a Veild or any chameleon really. It is hard to say what it is, but they can get cancer also. I would have him looked at by a vet to atleast make sure he is not suffering in anyway, and if he is, then you would have to make a decision on how to treat or maybe even euthanize.
