UVB setup

I want to get a UVB setup as Im not sure if my 30 min semi regular outside trips are providing enough. Im thnking about a 12-18 inch hood/ballast would fit pretty good. Whats yalls experience with different bulbs and hoods? Whats your favorite? I have a 100w PowersunUV by the way.

Definitely get a UVB. Most people on this forum tend to recommend the ReptiSun 5.0. What sized cage are you using? I have a 24" linear ReptiSun 5.0 over a 2'x2'x4' cage in a 30" hood.

You know that PowersunUV bulbs emit UVB right? I am not sure how much or how efficient they are, personally I like the linear florescent lamps.

I just dont feel like the Powersun gives enough UVB. Especially after a fellow memeber posted some of the output ratings for some other bulbs and then compared them to the amount from natural sunlight or the shade. My setup is about 5x3.5x3.5. Im thinking a 36 inch maybe as big as I can find,and ought to cover most of the cage; as I saw recommendations for at least 75%. The biggest problem Im having now is deciding which one to get. Which ballast would be best, reptisun 10 or 5.0, or other? Ive read about this Arcadia bulb, if im remembering it correctly, but Im actually in the process of moving around and just needed to grab a quick setup from petsmart until I get back and have time to order a better bulb.

I have to agree. The PowerSun focuses the UVB and UVA (which you do not want a UVA bulb) is all in the basking zone, which will mean the cham has to be in the basking zone to get the UVB he needs. Definitely go with the 5.0 ReptiSun, and make sure he is under it at all times, at least 12 hours a day. You can still keep the PowerSun, but make sure you have a straight UVB light too.

I love the arcadia stuff. If it is in the US than it is most likely coming from Todd at light your reptiles, he is a site sponsor you should give him a quick shout im sure he can get you all set up. He is AWSOME!!

I love the Arcadia lights and am considering getting some LED lights from Todd.
