UVB light questions

Hey guys! So I went and bought another UVB bulb and this time I did not buy a straight-line UVB bulb because I did not have any lamp on this shape to put it on. Instead I bought this and I was wondering if this UVB bulb and this metallic lamp would work fine because they seemed like they would be a perfect match! The lamp is just a regular lamp that I had and when I was looking at the UVB bulbs I thought of it and remembered it was metallic so it would reflect some of the rays :D. Let me know what you think. Here are the pictures:

My Cham prefers that bulb on his cage over the side that has the repti sun 5.0 tube so who know must be good

I thought noone used these coil bulbs anymore as they damage the chams eyes? or have they changed them now?

I thought the same, but have learned that they have been "fixed" and if you get the newer made ones, they are ok to use......I had used the previous "generation" ones with my dragons and monitors and didnt have a prob though....better safe then sorry with chams though.....

At one time there was a manufacturing problem with the ReptiSun CFL UVB bulbs so that they emitted unsafe levels of UVB and even UVC rays, which corresponded to health problems like eye problems and burns in reptiles. This manufacturing issue was identified and corrected by the manufacturer several years ago and thus we have not seen problems with it since then unless someone unluckily picked up an older bulb from before correction. The ReptiGlo CFL UVB bulbs were never associated with these harmful effects. The linear ReptiGlo or ReptiSun bulbs have never had any health problems associated with them either.

In summary they are fine now :)

SEveral years ago, the coil bulbs did produce eye issues.
However, the issue has been resolved now.
I use coil bulbs on both my chams. and no one has had any issues.
Of course keep your eyes peeled for issues, but you should do that no matter if yo uhave a coil bulb or tube.

One thing to remember about the coil lamps is how intense the UV is at close range and then quickly drops off.... this is why linear tubes are a better option. There is a very high concentration of UV up close to the 'coil' and the straight CFL lamps. They sorta create a hotspot. I wouldn't use CFLs on a cage, but if I did I would use one of those fixtures that holds several lamps on their side, similar to the DIY and the ExoTerra fixtures. This will give similar light coverage to linear tubes.
