UVB light not putting off heat

I have my uvb light set up and it doesn't seem to emit much heat. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Your UVB is not supposed to put out heat. You should have a separate basking lamp for heat. An incandescent bulb with a reflector dome is usually used in conjunction with the UVB bulb.

Ok. That's what I have, but for some reason, I expected the uvb to put out heat, too. Thanks!

Well to my knowledge, I think that the UVB lamps are just for giving UVB to our chams!!! You would need another bulb to add heat, depending on the size of the cage, would determine the wattage you need, this is what the cham would be basking under!! And this bulb should be on the same timer as your UVB bulb!

Why don't you put a thermometer below it an measure the temp?

I talked to the pet shop lady and she said that I should change my UVB light every four to six months because it won't give out UVB heat anymore. So you may need a new one.

Depending on the age of the Cham for example I use an exo terra glow 5.0 UVB 18" light. And for the heat I use a 75w heat basking lamp. My baby is just fine. And I mist him 3 times a day

UVB bulbs are not supposed to give out heat.
Bulbs are to be replaced every 6-9 months not because of heat reduction, but because UVB output has been shown to be reduced below beneficial levels.

You can always invest in a Solormeter
It takes the guesswork out of bulb replacement time.

I use Arcadia HO bulbs, and they do produce some heat, not much, just warm to the touch.
My chams love to lay accross the fixture when they are out free-ranging.

Also, the babies use it to bask. A 15W incan (hard to find) bulb is enough for the wee ones
