Could be confusing to noobs; this was an issue with compact fluorescents ~ten years ago (articles from '09 & '08) and TMK, the major bulb producers have corrected the issue. NO?

It was only the first batch, and they were all recalled. It did take a few years to get them out of circulation. You always had that one ebay bulb or petshop with low turnover...

If you hunt around the site, you will find the real reason. The first batch put out plenty of UVB, but instead of bleeding up into the uva, it bled down into the non terrestrial UVC.
