using subtrate a good idea or bad?

Well I read somewhere on here that using substrate could be badfor the cham? If I just used paper towels do I grow the plants in a pot? All tips are appreciated ... please and thank you

Paper towels is fine, I don't even use that but no don't use substrate

yes use a pot and cover the dirt with large rocks to prevent your cham from eating the dirt.

Yes, after washing your plants really well and removing all the dirt, repot with soil without fertilizer. Leave enough room to put clean river rocks on top so your cham can't poop in the soil or eat it. I like to cut out a circle of screen to put on top of my soil before putting in the rocks. If you like to use nice rocks you can get nice ones at Michaels. Don't use the small ones. The best are about 1 1/2 inch or more.

Great and inexpensive choices are pothos, umbrella plant (schefflera), ficus, and hibiscus. Most you could pick up at your local Home Depot.
