If it has been tested and is safe for you, it should be okay for them. If you have concerns with contaminants or mineral build up, distilled or R.O. would be preferable.
I use well water and they love it. Theyre healthy and doing great. We check the water frequently but whenever it smells a bit i use a reptile water purifier i think is what its called anyways.

Yes. The mineral content can create buildups on plant leaves, in dripper valves, misting nozzles, and humidifiers, but you can get rid of that by cleaning with vinegar regularly (not the plant leaves....use filtered water and a sponge to rub it off). The minerals won't hurt your cham. If you are going to use a misting system or a humidifier you can use RO or demineralized water instead.
I used to, but it got to be a pain cleaning out the nozzles of the mister. Now I just take a 7 gallon carboy to the local grocery store and get it refilled in their machine for $1.80.
If your well water is hard it will mess up your misting nozzles. Your chameleon will be fine but the extra cleaning is a pain and the white build up on your cage screens can make them harder to see thru.
