Uroplatus lineatus hatchling

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share our excitement with what is our very first U. lineatus hatching. This little one came from one of the three eggs that were found over labor day weekend. I'm astonished as to how quickly the incubation was, not even 6 weeks? We are still incubating the very first egg deposited on 7/31 so I'm a little baffled but extremely excited nonetheless. We also still have five more eggs to go!

Fun times...

Oh. My. Zeus.

Congratulations!!! *squeels* I'm so happy for you! :D

Incubation is anywhere from 60-90 days on average, hmm.

Very cool! Amanda just picked up a pair of Uroplatus Phantasticus (Satanic Leaf Tail) at a show in Houston.

Thank you everyone!

Rocky, that is one species that I've found to be much more sensitive than anything else we're working with. I wish you the best of luck and feel free to contact me if you need help. I know Julie (chams1) is having very good luck with phantasticus so you have two resources. :)

I made an error in my initial assumption on the incubation time. This is from the 7/31 clutch and so now it all makes sense. When the subsequent clutches arrived, I had made a few shifts in position and forgot which was which for a moment. Yet another reason I advocate note taking for everyone.

At any rate, thanks again and I'll be sure to post new images when he's settled in.

I'm so happy for you Luis! That's a great looking baby you have there!! Aren't they huge? It's amazing how all that can come out of that egg. Thank you for sharing and please do keep us advised. :)

Thanks everyone!

Julie, I was expecting this little one for another few weeks. There was no indication that she was going to pop out the night before. The size is just amazing! Based on our conversations and those with others as well, I was expecting a large baby and boy was everyone right on the money. This one weighs as much as my female T. montium did when I acquired her from Chris a few weeks ago...2.2 grams at just a few hours old.

She's very active and strong though she was still getting accustomed to all of this "walking" and "climbing" she had to do.

How are all of yours holding up?

Thanks again!

All my uros are doing very well - thanks for asking. I have a phantasticus that is getting ready to lay (I believe) and a lineatus and fimbriatus that should be laying soon, too. C'mon eggs!

Glad that your baby is doing well!
