Update on the Hedgie....

she's cute. Are hedgehogs usually pretty nice? I've never heard much about them. Are they the type of pet you can hold and cuddle with?

Hedgies can be very shy and quiet animals. They can also be sweet and social. Just like with any animal, they all have different personalities. I have seen most more on the shy side. They will curl up in a ball and hiss at you in defense. Most after holding them for a bit will loosen up and come out to see the world. However I have seen many only come out to bite.
They are usually only very active in the evening, so unless you plan on staying up late, most of the time they are sleeping during the day and you won't see them much. They LOVE to run on large wheels, but they usually poop on them and end up very messy.

Amy is totally sweet, she has a great personality. yea the wheel is normally that messy daily task, but shes well worth it. Were planning on getting another one soon. I've heard some horror stories about some hedgies being very anti social and whatnot, I think its just a chance you take with any animal. Shes never bit me, or anyones thats held her, she does like to go after shiny stuff and attack its kinda cute.
and yes they are night time animals, but she wakes up and is ready to come out and play between 7-8 so we have a few hours of play time a day.

Glad to hear you got a sweety! It's hard, but usually your luck is better getting a young one, so you can socialize it well.
What color are you planning on getting for a second hedgie?
