Update on my uncles panther cham

as the ones who read my other thread will know im looking after my uncles panther cham and have been since last friday. Hes going home on saterday. He isn't very well..i've got two pics as he has only jst this once been to the toilet since hes been here. Hes eaten a few crix locusts mealworms and two waxies. His urates look terrible..Heres the pics

some of his urates was dried out and stuck to him...



 
I think the first thing hanging on him may be a sperm plug. I have seen something similar with my male panthers.
In the second picture, the poo looks a little light, and the orange hue indicates a little dehydration.
How long have you been keeping it? I assume that you've been providing him with proper hydration via mists and a dripper. I would consider replacing water with pedialyte for a couple of days (in the dripper as well) and see if a few showers might could help this guy out.
 
Yh hes been drinking a bit at mine. My uncle had him with a waterfall but i told him of the dangers etc and he took it out..he said he hasnt seen him drinking since he took it out...I have though. I will try giving him a shower. I've got some reptoboost stuff i dont know if your familiar with it? and whats the deal with the sperm plugs? can it be a problem? i actually removed it with tweezers.
 
Most people put a small tree, such as a ficus in the back of the shower with their chameleon on it and then point the shower head toward the wall and let the water bounce off the wall onto the cham in the tree. Jann
 
Oh ok I think my plant might get flooded though but it will be worth it for this little guy. Thanks. How long should he be in for? Water temp?
 
oh yeah forgot to say..i pulled some of the sperm plug out but below where his urates come out is still very bulky why is this?
 
It might b bcoz he may have more sperm plugs built up, or basically its his package. lol. Yea try the shower let it bounce off the wall n wait n see if he drinks. That reptoboost is some really good stuff try that too it helped my friends cham when he was ill n feeling poorly.
 
Hope your Uncle's cham pulls through, It never feels good when something goes wrong while pet-sitting...I'm from London too...Canada though!
 
Ok so I gave him a 15 min shower which he seemed to enjoy lol. I also misted him with reptoboost this morning and I think i'll put a tad in his dripper also. He seems a bit more alert now. He is eating so this is also a good sign. When I put him back he was climbing around a bit which he doesn't usually do. I just hope my uncle carrys on this good work and does a bit more for him as he goes home tomorrow or sunday.

I hope he does to. You did a great job taking care of him while he was in your care. I am happy to hear he is doing better.
 
yh I posted a pic of his poo on this thread at the start. I think he was dehydrated thats why I put him in the shower for a while and why I gave him the reptoboost. I think he may have a plug in him still. Below his poo hole it is quite large I thought it was just how it was with him. I think you can see it in the pic on this thread also..
 
He looks pretty good in the photo. Kind of hanging that back leg, though, which can be an early sign of low calcium absorption. But from what I've read in your earlier post you are making appropriate changes to his habitat.

I read a bit of your earlier post (but not every comment) and don't know if anyone has mentioned that mature Panther males are a lot less active than veileds. They also don't always have as aggressive a grip as veileds do. At least, that is my experience. I have veileds, and when I got my first panthers I was really surprised at how docile and slow and still they could be. And at how they would just sit on a perch and allow me to reach in and pick them up. They aren't all that way, but some are. My vieled males on the other hand would generally make a run for it or act aggressive if I reached into their cage.

Also, the bulge behind his vent is probably the normal male panther reproductive organ bulge. SOmetimes it can look very swollen, but that's normal. What was hanging out of him in the one photo definitely looked like smegma (sperm plug). And it looked like he was shedding it after his poop, which is normal.
