he is a cutie for sure. What type of cham is he. I have never seen big spaced spikes like that.

He is a giant spiny chameleon aka furcifer verrucosus

Not too many of these around. He looks great. I would bet this is one of the rarest species in the country (that we can legally obtain). He needs a lady friend.

The scalation on his tail looks like that of a lot of Calumma species.

I would never get a single species unless there was no other option. With a species as rare as he is in captivity you should do all you can to get him a mate and try and get some offspring from them. That's just my opinion tho

Yah this was my first species I have kept so I just wanted to get feel for the animal but I agree with what your saying.
