ok i know this is very silly and i should know this by now but i cant help but believe my one veiled chameleon is a female even tho "she" has spurs and is quite large.

i had a thread before relating to this topic..but after watching her movements and reactions...i just dont think its a male.

ill post the first 4 pictures of "her" then 1 pic of my other chameleon i know is a male. no comparison really in my opinion.

So tell me what yous think!

Definitely a male.

Here's a 6.5 month old female to compare:

See how her casque is much much smaller, and she doesn't have the classic male bars and stripes? :) Just lots of mustard colored spots. And of course, no spurs!

@ Olimpia - that is a gorgeous female! My female is about 5 months and is just green. no blue no yellow, not even a real pattern. just green. she's sweet though.

Though colors are their "big girl colors" meaning their ready to lay eggs and mate.

You'll girl will get them eventually, maybe not as vibrant because thats one vibrant female but she will get them :)

Yep, you'll see her get her spots in another month or so. Mine went from green to this literally overnight, I didn't even see her shed! :D Mine comes from very blue/turquoise parents, so she'll probably get bluer, but yours will still get her nice mustard spots :)

Olimpia...a female doesn't have to shed to get the spots. In the picture she is showing receptive and sexually mature by her colors.

Oh, well that's news to me! I know what the colors mean, I just thought they had to shed to get to them at ~6 months. Especially since she gets more and more blues as she sheds.

Thanks for enlightening me!

i really wish i was able to breed my boys with some females somewhere locally. lol well whatever i guess.

thanks

for the sake of baby chameleons you should even think of breeding until you have much more experience under your belt.
