Under-ripe fruits ok?

I have an apple tree (Not a crab apple tree but a real apple tree) for the past few years it hasnt produced large enough apples for us, but could i use the small sour apples for gut load or even fresh veiled food or does it need to develope more?

Its pretty early in the season yet - your apples may not rippen until September.
But yes, you can use them as part of the gutload now (remember not to include the core/seeds, just the flesh)
